In a non-conference away game, Boone was upset 10–6 by the #15 Indianola softball team in class 5A on Thursday night. Alexa Guyer’s RBI single in the first inning gave the Indians a 1-0 lead, and Kaitlyn Bonnes’ sacrifice fly in the second gave them a 2-0 lead. Boone scored two runs to knot the score in the third, but Indianola led 5-2 after Guyer, Bria Boell, and a run on the basepaths scored three runs in the fifth. However, the Toreadors did not leave quietly. They led 6-5 after scoring four runs in the bottom of the inning, but Guyer continued her incredible night by scoring two more runs in the sixth to take the lead back to 7-6. Tessa Gripp blasted a two-run drive to left to reach the final score after Ava Tichy drove in a run on a groundout in the seventh. Indianola has a pivotal doubleheader against the Dallas Center-Grimes tonight, improving to 13-8 on the season. Andrew Swadner will provide play-by-play commentary for the second game of the doubleheader, which is broadcast live on 94.3 KNIA. Coverage of the pregame starts about 7:15 p.m.
