Family of Milly Zellmer Holding Fundraiser in Her Memory for Pella Library

Through a campaign to help a non-profit charity, the family of a young Pella girl who lost her life in a sledding accident in 2023 will honor her memory.

The Milly Moo’s Fundraiser for the Pella Public Library will be held by Milly Zellmer’s family at Sun Valley Barn on Saturday, June 28th, from 5 to 9 p.m.

According to Milly’s sister Everly, there will be a silent auction, live music, food, and kid-friendly activities during the event.

Kristi, Milly’s mother, says the Pella Public Library would benefit from this year’s event because her late daughter was a voracious reader.

When she was a youngster, she would spend hours in her room reading books to herself, making up stories, and turning the pages. She even had her favorite novels’ words committed to memory. On the group’s events page, Kristi said, “We are thrilled that you will join us in continuing Milly’s legacy by helping us raise money for the Pella Public Library.”

Milly passed away on February 16, 2023, in a sledding accident. In the two and a half years afterward, her family has organized a summer fundraiser to collect funds for Little Dutch Academy and the Marion County Humane Society. They have also urged the community to take part in Milly Moments of kindness every winter for the past two years.
