Pella Christian Host Round Two of the Tulip City Summer Showdown Monday

On Monday night, the Pella Christian summer sports teams will welcome Pella to Eagle Lane for a single Little Hawkeye Conference game, hosting round two of the Tulip City Showdown.

After losing to Des Moines Christian on Friday night and losing to Knoxville on a walk-off at the Field of Dreams on Thursday, the Eagles baseball team will try to snap their current two-game losing streak. Pella Christian will take on a Pella team that is rated #2 in the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association Class 3A rankings in an attempt to get back in the win column.After splitting their doubleheader against Norwalk on Friday, winning the first game 8-3 but losing the nightcap 2-0, the Dutch are also hoping for a comeback match. In the previous meeting between the two baseball teams on June 6th, Pella won both ends of the doubleheader 8-1 and 5-0 to guarantee the season series.

After defeating Des Moines Christian 9-2 on Friday night to finish a 4-0 week, the Eagles are hoping to extend their winning streak to five games on the softball diamond. Prior to defeating Knoxville on Thursday, Pella Christian also won a doubleheader over Newton on Monday. After being swept in a doubleheader against Norwalk on Friday, the Eagles will play a Dutch team hoping to stay above.500 on the season on Monday in an attempt to secure the season series.In their twinbill in early June, Pella Christian and Pella split the two games. The Eagles rallied for a commanding 14-0 victory in four innings after the Dutch won the first game 6-5.

92.1 KRLS will broadcast live coverage of Monday’s baseball game between Pella Christian and Pella, starting at 6:45 p.m. with pregame coverage. The KRLS2 stream will broadcast the Eagles vs. Dutch softball game, with pregame coverage beginning at 6:45 p.m.
