PCM Board of Education Approves Girls Wrestling Program

Published On:

At its meeting on June 16th, the PCM Board of Education gave its approval for the district to launch its own girls wrestling program.

In the past, PCM’s female wrestlers competed against Colfax-Mingo on a sharing arrangement. But since Colfax-Mingo removed PCM from the girls’ sharing arrangement, the Mustang girls have nowhere to wrestle. The decision to share with Colfax-Mingo was made earlier because it allowed our children to wrestle, according to PCM Activities Director Jeremy Swink’s Board of Education presentation. Our girls don’t have a place to wrestle right now. I’ve tried calling on share a few times, but to no avail. I want to make sure that our pupils have the chance to wrestle if they want to. For the next academic year, I predict that we will have a minimum of eight high school wrestlers.

According to the meeting agenda, the initiative will begin at a total cost of about $30,000. Swink expresses his excitement to introduce the program to PCM and his outlook on the future of female wrestling at PCM to KNIA/KRLS.
