Returning to Oregon, a Nike Cross Country All-American will race on the oval against some of the country’s top athletes. Marissa Ferebee of Pella finished 14th in Thursday’s 5000-meter race with a time of 17:30.8. Tonight in Eugene, Ferebee will compete in the 3000 meters at 8:10 p.m. Central Time.
After winning the Nike Heartland Regional race and shattering Iowa’s all-time 5K record in the state track and field competition, Marissa’s incredible junior season culminated in her qualification for the Nike Cross Nationals last December. Ferebee was still one of the best in Iowa, even if an offseason injury curtailed some of her goals for this spring. Marissa won the Class 3A state title in the 3000 race in May after placing ninth in the 1500 meters and sixth in the 3000 meters at the 2025 Drake Relays.
