Newton Public Library Volunteer Gets Governor’s Volunteer Award

A woman who volunteers a lot at the Newton Public Library has received recognition for her efforts. Marcia McFall, who volunteers at the library through Iowa State University Extension and Outreach’s Jasper County RSVP Program, has been recognized with the Governor’s Volunteer Award. McFall has volunteered hundreds of hours at the Library, assisting with numerous children’s programs and inspecting STEM kits and board games for missing parts upon their return, according to Youth Services Librarian Phyllis Peter. In addition, she helps prepare the summer reading bags and deliver the daily food that the library provides. The Iowa Governor’s Volunteer Award Program honors the commitment of volunteers and gives organizations a means of thanking them for their services.
