Activities for Knoxville’s Independence Day will happen today. The Knoxville Cancer Relay is hosting the annual Freedom 5K for the first time, and it will kick off the morning at 8:00 am. A bike procession is scheduled to begin from Knoxville High School at 10:30 this morning and end at Young’s Park. All ages are welcome to participate in the bike parade, which will feature prizes for the best-decorated bike as well as popsicles for everyone. There will be fireworks in the evening, which will begin at around 9:30 p.m. and be launched from the Knoxville Municipal Airport. The city informs viewers that parking on Highways 5, 14, and 92 will not be allowed. The airport’s business parking facilities, including Wal-Mart, Weiler, Farm and Home, and others, are open to spectators.
