Pleasantville Baseball Outlasts Southeast Warren in a Pitchers Dual Wednesday Night

Published On:

On Wednesday night, the Pleasantville baseball team defeated Southeast Warren, a non-conference rival, in a pitchers dual on the road.

It was about opening pitching in a game that was tied until the sixth inning between the Warhawks and the Trojan baseball team, which was rated #2. Drake Steil of Southeast Warren and Easton Cox of Pleasantville alternated in tearing through each other’s lineups. The game was tied 1-1 going into the sixth inning, but a wild pitch and a mistake by the Warhawk defense allowed the Trojans to score three runs. All five of the Warhawks’ runs in the game were unearned, with the other Pleasantville run coming off a walk earlier in the contest and the Warhawks’ lone run coming on a wild pitch.

JJ Phillips entered the game in the sixth to make the save, while Stanton Major came in to replace Cox in the fifth, earning the victory on the mound. Cox only allowed two hits, one run, and three strikeouts while starting. Phillips and Braylon Bingham both had two hits throughout the game for Pleasantville’s offense. With a record of 17-0, the Trojan baseball team is still undefeated this season. They will play again tonight when they go to ACGC for a doubleheader.
