Late last week, Newton boys basketball coach Jason Carter sent two sophomores and the juniors and seniors of the next season to a three-day camp in Lawrence, Kansas. The team faced several teams from bigger colleges in five different states and played seven games at the University of Kansas. According to Coach Carter, the trip opened his eyes and was especially helpful for his players who will be joining the varsity team for the upcoming season.

“You really have to work hard to get open on the wing and start your offense,” one of our children even said. Since those are the kinds of games you want to be in at the conclusion of next season if you want to have a chance at the state tournament, I really believe it will assist our kids grasp what it takes to play at a high level.

It was also a terrific moment to unite as a team, according to the Newton boys basketball coach. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, the team will return to the court to play games at a Johnston camp.
