One of the tractor drivers on the first leg of Monday’s WHO Great Iowa Tractor ride was Iowa’s Ag Secretary. From the Iowa Speedway on Newton’s southeast side, Mike Naig drove a brand-new John Deere enclosed cab tractor to the Baxter school. Last Monday, Naig took part in yet another tractor ride from Mount Pleasant to Washington. Tractor rides remind him of family get-togethers.
those who anticipate seeing one another at these gatherings. There are, of course, many stories that are told, some of which may even be inflated. However, it was a fantastic celebration of agriculture and a lot of fun.
According to Iowa’s Ag Secretary, each of the more than 350 tractors registered for this year’s WHO Tractor Ride has a unique story.
I enjoy going to see folks. They will claim that this was my grandfather’s tractor, our first tractor, and the first tractor I ever plowed. That kind of thing.
The second day of the WHO Great Iowa Tractor Ride is underway. The 67-mile itinerary includes stops at Stoney Point Barn south of Reasnor, Pella Christian High School, and Key Cooperative in Sully.
