Public broadcasting is the bane of our country, as you may have heard.
Publicly broadcast news is liberally skewed. PBS Kids programs are essentially woke propaganda. The plot of The Reading Rainbow is LGBTQ.
Because so much can be downloaded online, public broadcasting is no longer necessary. Nobody listens to the radio or watches TV like in the old days. Nowadays, people use social media to acquire their news from family members or listen to podcasts.
Public support for PBS and NPR stations is no longer justified. similar to medical research, environmental preservation, and humanitarian assistance to impoverished people.
$1 billion in previously authorized funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which distributes the funds to regional public media stations, was rescinded by Congress and President Donald Trump last month.
In order to free up more funds to take individuals off the streets and send them to Alligator Alcatraz or South Sudan, it is imperative that the government be reduced in size.
The purpose seems to be to make America meaner and dumber.
It seems really strange to me. I have been listening to NPR ever since I learned about it in high school. For thirty years, my spouse has been employed in the public radio industry. We got together to cover a meeting for our individual publications.
Thus, I am, shock!, biased. But I am also aware of some things.
For instance, I am aware that IPR reporters and producers go to great lengths to persuade conservatives to appear on talk shows and in news articles. Republicans frequently use bias as an excuse for their refusal to present.
For many years, bias has been used as a weapon against journalists. Spiro Agnew, the vice president, referred to us as negative nattering nabobs. For obvious reasons, Nixon detested the press.
Forty years have passed since I first saw Rush Limbaugh’s bumper sticker cautioning us not to trust the liberal media.
However, there are some obvious political goals behind calling news coverage biased.
First, the purpose of bias accusations is to undermine reporting that portrays conservatives and their leaders negatively. Assassinate the messenger.
The second is that it’s a pass that lets Republican lawmakers avoid responding to queries from reporters that could cause them discomfort. Because they believe the League of Women Voters is a socialist organization, some Iowa Republicans won’t go to its forums. And women, who are unreliable.
Additionally, accusations of bias may cause some reporters and editors to back down out of concern that they would be singled out by right-wingers.
MAGA journalism standards are strict, after all.
Use the Gulf of America or risk expulsion from White House functions. The president may try to get you fired if you ask him a question that he finds objectionable. Trump will file a lawsuit for tens of millions of dollars if your news outlet publishes an article or simply edits an interview in a way that offends him.
However, you would be appointed secretary of defense if you were a MAGA blabber on Fox News.
Ironically, public broadcasting will continue to exist in blue cities. In rural red America, radio stations rely on public subsidy to stay in operation. However, their ultimate sacrifice to eradicate media prejudice will live on in their memory. Patriotism is that.
The public radio station in Iowa will not be affected by the cuts. There will always be a notable amount of work that producers and journalists do to cover the state. I am aware that the local content you hear is the result of a lot of work. Tell me that high-quality reporting is no longer required after looking at the media scene.
Additionally, if you believe that liberal bias is more prevalent now than it was twenty years ago, is it possible that you have changed away from public broadcasting? I am aware of how skewed that question is.
