Trump’s New Bestie? Geraldo Grovels With Cringey Nobel Peace Prize Pitch

Published On:

Once again, Geraldo Rivera is throwing himself into the Trumpplove craze. When he said that President Donald Trump should receive the Nobel Peace Prize, even if he doesn’t truly bring about peace, the former Republican turned socially liberal TV veteran stunned Newsmax’s Finnerty.

The million-dollar question was posed by host Rob Finnerty during the Wednesday morning segment: Will he be denied the Nobel Peace Prize if he ends this conflict, Geraldo? Rivera didn’t think twice. Absolutely not. He responded by saying that anyone who denies that this and/or Gaza would put him on the fast track is only allowing partisan politics to obstruct reason. He continued by saying that even if nothing changes, the bold, public, and overt efforts toward peace should be acknowledged.

With his penchant for dramatic soundbites, Geraldo is now offering Trump the largest olive branch in the history of tabloidy—or is it a kiss? Regardless of the result, he presented Trump’s efforts as an attempt at peace that has earned him brownie points. Furthermore, who are we to argue with effort?

Given Rivera’s past with Trump, this attention-grabbing support is all the more surprising. According to him, Trump was the first wealthy man he had ever met, and they remained close until January 6. Rivera referred to Trump as a disgruntled loser who could not be relied upon to uphold the Constitution following the Capitol violence. That is a significant change. He even gave Kamala Harris his support in 2024, but he is now praising Trump once more.

In the meantime, Washington’s political soap opera continues to run. Without Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky present, Trump is preparing for a conference with Vladimir Putin and has forebodingly threatened dire repercussions should Russia reject a truce. He has not yet provided details.

Breaking: In an unthinkable move, Trump reiterates his threats of dire repercussions if Putin doesn’t halt the conflict following their meeting, even though he hasn’t followed through on them.

In another development, Israel recently declared its intention to take over Gaza City, which it says will liberate Gaza from Hamas. This move sparked worldwide indignation and a German arms embargo. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu formally nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize back in July, praising his 2020 Abraham Accords and referring to him as a peace broker in a series of nations.

Trump has been open about wanting the honor. He complained at the Detroit Economic Club last year, “I would have received the Nobel Prize in ten seconds if I had been named Obama.”

Trump has, of course, had a mixed record. During his first tenure, he ordered the killing of a senior Iranian general, launched heavy bombings on ISIS in Iraq and Syria, and has carried out attacks on Iran during his current term. Additionally, he has advocated for the US to occupy Gaza and turn it into a free zone.

That’s it. Trump is smiling, Geraldo is groveling, and the Nobel Committee might have to choose between participating in this spectacle and staying out of it.
