First Lady Melania Trump vowed to sue Hunter Biden for $1 billion over remarks that connected her to Jeffrey Epstein, but Biden has steadfastly refused to apologize.
Biden made the daring declaration during an appearance on Channel 5 with Andrew Callaghan, where he was shown a letter from Alejandro Brito, Melania’s lawyer. F*** that. In an interview, the son of the former president rejected a court order to take back his remarks, saying, “That’s not going to happen.”

Biden was accused in the letter of making provocative, insulting, misleading, and defamatory remarks that had seriously damaged the First Lady’s finances and reputation. Brito set a deadline for compliance and ordered a public apology and retraction. Biden hasn’t done either six days after that deadline.
Biden’s assertion that Epstein, the convicted sex offender and billionaire, introduced Melania to Donald Trump is the source of the problem. In the interview, Biden remarked of Trump and Epstein, “They spent a great deal of time together and knew each other well.” His biographer claims that the president and First Lady first met through Jeffrey Epstein’s introduction of Melania.
Biden’s comments were in line with a Daily Beast article that has since been taken down and attributed the accusation to author Michael Wolff. Under legal pressure from Melania’s campaign, the Daily Beast later formally apologized and removed the report; however, Biden reiterated the claim in the widely watched Channel 5 show.
According to Brito’s letter, the film was widely shared and reposted by journalists, media outlets, and political pundits, reaching tens of millions of people globally. The lawyer called the accusations “very salacious” and maintained that they were harmful and untrue. He threatened to sue Biden $1 billion if he did not promptly issue an apology and a complete and fair retraction.
Biden did not retreat; instead, he doubled down. As the interview received over 1.3 million views on YouTube, he made a direct rejection. In the movie, Biden wore a hat with a logo reminiscent of the Iron Front, which was later adopted by certain contemporary Antifa groups and was used by anti-fascist resistance movements in Germany during World War II.
Any connection to Epstein has been flatly denied by Melania Trump. According to her, she met Donald Trump for the first time in 1998 at a party held by modeling agent Paolo Zampolli during Fashion Week. In the past, her legal team has successfully obtained retractions from public celebrities and political commentators who made similar accusations, demonstrating their active pursuit of defamation suits.
Biden was also cautioned by the First Lady’s attorney not to destroy, hide, or manipulate any pertinent records or evidence, indicating that if his stance doesn’t change, legal action may proceed. The tone of the legal warning and the missed deadline imply that Melania’s team is ready to escalate, even if she hasn’t legally filed a lawsuit yet.
The incident has turned into yet another cause of contention in the ongoing personal and political hostility between the Trumps and the Bidens. The conflict is set to escalate into a legal battle, with both sides firmly established, Melania’s camp standing by its billion-dollar threat, and Biden publicly rejecting it. If it does, it would set up a legal struggle between the First Lady and the president’s son that is sure to attract a lot of public and media attention.
