Christina Formella, an Illinois teacher accused of having several sexual encounters with a 15-year-old pupil, is currently being forced to leave her house as her court battle intensifies.

The 30-year-old educator, who entered a not guilty plea to an astounding 106 accusations of sexual assault, abuse, grooming, and solicitation, has advertised her suburban Chicago house for $569,000. This is because she is unable to legally reside within 5,000 feet of the kid who charged her.

Formella, who was arrested in March 2025, is at the center of one of the most disturbing instances in DuPage County, Illinois, this year. According to the prosecution, she began grooming the pupil when he was just 14 years old, and once he became 15, there were roughly 50 sexual contacts. The alleged occurrences are said to have begun at that time, or shortly before, when the teen’s mother discovered obscene text messages on his phone in December 2023.

According to court filings, Formella, who taught special education and coached soccer at Downers Grove South High in Illinois, was given a residency restriction, rendering her three-bedroom, two-bath ranch worthless. Citing the teen’s frequent excursions to her area with pals, the judge flatly denied her legal team’s request to have the buffer zone lessened.

It turned out that Formella had to move and pack up.

The 1,430-square-foot house boasts hardwood flooring, granite countertops, ceiling-height kitchen cabinets, an LED fireplace, a built-in entertainment wall, and even a hot tub in the rear, according to local real estate listings. Despite its glamorous real estate listing, the mansion has come to represent the chaos her trial has caused in her personal life. Since the charges intensified, Formella and her parents have been residing on a golf course. She is wearing an ankle monitor while she awaits her trial.

After Formella was initially charged with three charges in March, her legal issues rapidly worsened.

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin brought 52 additional charges after Illinois investigators found further alleged events. By the end of the summer, she was charged with 20 charges of sexual assault, 20 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, six counts of indecent solicitation of a child, and six counts of grooming, according to the US Sun.

Berlin described the accusations against Formella as “extremely disturbing,” claiming that she sexually assaulted a young kid by abusing her position of authority and trust as a coach and teacher. Police bodycam footage that was made public earlier this year captured her arrest. Her husband, Michael Formella, whom she had married shortly after the alleged abuse, watched in disbelief as she panicked.

Despite the controversy, Michael has remained publicly supportive of her, accompanying her to court appearances. He allegedly told investigators that he knew nothing about the student other than that he was a soccer player.

Formella, for her part, maintains that she is being unfairly singled out by the public and investigators because of her appearance. At one point, she brought up the subject of blackmail, claiming that the teenager had stolen her phone and was sending her phony messages accusing her.

In all of her cases, Formella has pled not guilty, and her lawyers are preparing for the fall trial.

When she appeared at her most recent status hearing in Illinois, she was almost completely different, with darker hair and a more subdued demeanor as the October trial date approaches.

The once-opulent suburban home, complete with a cedar deck and immaculate landscaping, is currently just another casualty of a case that has rocked the neighborhood and could shape her future.
