Trigger Warning: There are details regarding homicide in this post.

A typical civilian gets shivers just hearing the word “crime,” don’t they? However, no two people are alike. Some people, regrettably, lack empathy and regret and are unable to understand the seriousness and ramifications of the phrase. The aforementioned group also includes some parents who are pure evil and have no accountability for their kids. They frequently conduct crimes or place their children in risky situations that could be lethal.

For example, Troy Koehler’s adoptive father was given a sentence of fifty years in prison three years after the child was discovered dead inside a washing machine. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office announced on July 30 that Jemaine Thomas, 45, had entered a guilty plea to Troy’s murder and was sentenced to 50 years in prison.

According to PEOPLE, Troy’s previous teacher, Sheryl Reed, recalled him as a happy and intelligent youngster who enjoyed reading, saying, “Today a reader, tomorrow a leader.” Troy was always like that. During her victim impact statement, she stated that he would finish his work ahead of schedule, go straight to our library, and then share what he had read with his peers.

After filing a missing person’s complaint, the authorities visited the couple’s Texas house after they went missing on July 28, 2022, after adopting Troy in 2019. A thorough search of the residence was also conducted because of anything that sparked suspicion during their first conversation with the parents. Officers eventually found Troy’s fully clothed body inside a top-loading washing machine in the garage at approximately 7:20 a.m.

The pair allegedly committed the horrible act because they were upset that the youngster was consuming their doughnut sticks, oatmeal cream pies, and other food. The couple’s text exchanges disclosed the truth, according to KPRC 2 Houston. Jemaine sent a terrifying message that said, “I need to get the [locks].” I’m going to kill him in the end.

In a heartbreaking murder case, Troy Koehler’s adoptive father was sentenced.

Tiffany Thomas, Troy’s adoptive mother, has also been prosecuted in relation to the terrible case after entering a guilty plea to injury to a child under the age of fifteen. The amount of her bond is $300,000. A second charge of omission-related child injury was withdrawn. The date of Tiffany’s hearing is set for September 10, 2025.

As he lay dying in his cot, I can only imagine the anguish that poor little soul must have been going through. to live while unaware of his parents’ lack of affection. That man should never be released from prison. Justice must be served for this young soul, and the safety of others will always be a concern due to Dad’s inhumanity.

The autopsy later revealed that Troy had sustained both current and prior injuries, and his death was determined to be a homicide, according to a post made by Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez on X (previously Twitter) in November 2022. Additionally, Child Protective Services’ previous involvement with the family was validated by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. As the news spread online, many people expressed their sympathies.

In recent years, homicides have emerged as one of the most significant crimes in America. The number of killings in the United States increased by 36.7% between 2019 and 2021, hitting levels not seen in decades. Despite a minor decrease in 2022, homicide rates are still high when compared to the most of the twenty-first century. (via USA Facts).

As a result, according to data released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on May 24, 2024, the national homicide mortality rate decreased by 6.1% between 2021 and 2022, from 8.2 to 7.7 per 100,000. The rate is still 51% greater than it was in 2014, even with this decline.

Our thoughts and prayers are with any child who died as a result of abuse, murder, parental neglect, or any circumstance in which the child was not at fault. Some people lack the fundamental human feelings needed to care for another person and don’t deserve to be parents. We hope Troy receives fair treatment and that his parents receive severe punishment.
