The rivalry between the Knoxville and Pella Christian Baseball Squads will travel to northeast Iowa on Thursday, specifically to Dyersville, the location of the Field of Dreams movie. The Panthers and Eagles are excited to play on a field where one of the most famous sports films ever was made. The Field of Dreams has already hosted a number of high school, college, and even two Major League Baseball games. According to Knoxville coach Turner Devore, they want to win the game, but they also plan to soak in the scenery.
Devore: Nevada did it last year and provided us with all of the contact details, and the woman up there has been really kind. It’s going to be a lot of fun. These guys sacrifice their summers to spend time with their buddies, so it makes sense to plan a vacation like this that they will always remember.
Eagles coach Chris Fynaardt tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that many of the parents are excited to go on the trip, in addition to his kids.
Fynaardt: It will be an unforgettable experience. When I inquired if anyone had not been to the Field of Dreams, a few more hands went up, and some parents’ hands went up as well, indicating that many people are eager to visit.
With the pregame starting at 4:30 on Thursday afternoon and the first pitch at 5:00, tune in to 92.1 KRLS for live coverage.
