Today is Independence Day in the City of Pella. The Pella 4th of July Committee’s Paul Kingma invites the community to participate in a variety of events, beginning with swimming at the Pella Aquatic Center and city tours led by the Pella Preservation Trust and Pella Historical Museums. At 2 p.m., food stands open close to Central Park, and Meet the First Responders starts soon after. The Tulip Toren will provide entertainment, and at 3 p.m., fishing at Caldwell Park and the Central Park Bounce Houses will begin. Today’s Pella Farmers Market is open from 4 to 7 p.m. Pella Fiber TV will also broadcast the yearly Fourth of July parade, which will begin close to Scholte Church and travel the reverse Tulip Time route. At 8 p.m., the City Band plays on the Tulip Toren, and at 10 p.m., fireworks are released from Central College. The KNIA/KRLS Little Big Red Radio is taking part in the Fourth of July festivities in the neighborhood.
