During a live broadcast, CNN presenter Kate Bolduan was noticeably perplexed when a Republican panelist asserted that the Jeffrey Epstein issue had mostly lost public attention.
The conversation took place as the administration of President Donald Trump continues to come under more scrutiny for how it has handled papers pertaining to the embattled financier. Despite earlier assurances from several administration officials, the Justice Department recently declared it would not make any additional material regarding Epstein’s alleged crimes public. Trump’s long-standing relationship with Epstein has now again gained attention as a result of the ruling.
When Republican strategist and CNN contributor Scott Jennings contended that the Epstein problem was not a political priority for the majority of Americans, Bolduan was facilitating a panel discussion.
Jennings stated, “I don’t mind if they follow the facts where they go here.” This is a political analysis, and the polling on it is fairly clear: No one cares. For the American people, including Republicans, this is about the least important issue.
He was questioned about the assertion by Bolduan, who noted that MPs are still actively discussing the matter. On September 3, when Congress returns from recess, Reps. Ro Khanna (D-CA) and Thomas Massie (R-KY) will bring survivors of abuse by Epstein and his partner Ghislaine Maxwell to a news conference on Capitol Hill. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) has also demanded that former federal prosecutor Alex Acosta testify regarding the 2008 plea agreement he reached with Epstein, which has long been criticized for being unduly lenient.

There have been inquiries on this, so I’m not sure if you want to speak with them, Jennings said. I don’t understand why anyone would be upset about that, but I also believe that we shouldn’t think of this as anything other than a Washington story since the American people don’t really care about this in the country.
Bolduan pushed back, stating that lawmakers have stated that this is the top call they receive in their congressional office, but if that is the case, perhaps when you ask a voter what their top issue is, it won’t be the Jeffrey Epstein story. When they return home, they hear this. She referenced Democratic Representative Robert Garcia, who informed her that if Luna follows through, his party is ready to back her efforts.
Jennings defended his comments by citing polling statistics once more. Bolduan questioned the technique and if it really represented the sentiment of voters on a multi-year-long scandal involving prominent figures from the entertainment, business, and political spheres.

Despite assertions that the crisis has subsided, Jeffrey Epstein’s shadow continues to remain large. A federal judge rejected the Justice Department’s latest attempt to persuade him to release the grand jury transcripts from Ghislaine Maxwell’s case, ruling that it would not significantly advance public knowledge.
Maxwell is currently incarcerated at a minimum-security jail in Texas, a move that has angered politicians who believe it was a sweetheart bargain.
In the meantime, victims and their lawyers are denouncing what they describe as a cover-up and calling for greater openness while preserving the names of survivors. Due to increased security and media attention, residents of Bryan, Texas, feel uncomfortable with their new high-profile prisoner. In addition, advocacy organizations are seeking for access to FBI and DOJ correspondence regarding the investigation.
