The drama started on July 30th when former Vice President Kamala Harris declared she would not be seeking the California governor’s office. Rather than simply taking a break from politics, she immediately started promoting her new book, 107 Days, through the media, even landing a prominent appearance on Stephen Colbert’s The Late Show. According to AP, Harris made a direct (although somewhat subtle) statement about years of leadership failures leading up to this catastrophe, which everyone interpreted as a jab at Trump’s tenure in office.
Therefore, it should come as no surprise that Donald Trump would not let Harris to have her time without retaliating!
Trump took the stage and, as usual, veered off course to attack Harris only hours before she was scheduled to appear on Colbert. She can’t talk, though. She is mute. He said, “She can’t do an interview,” and dismissed her completely, stating that she lacked the necessary skills.

Twitter/X quickly pointed out how resentful he sounded. What a needy dude. One guy joked, Not a shred of grace. Another commenter blamed Trump’s speech errors, saying, “As though his eighth-grade rambling is any better.”
For Donald Trump, this was nothing new. He had long been employing ableist and sexist language in his campaign comments directed against Kamala Harris. He implied that there was a problem with Harris when he labeled her “lying Kamala” and described Biden as mentally challenged during a rally in Pennsylvania at the end of 2024.
He started acting more aggressively in Miami a few days later, saying things like “slow,” “low IQ,” and “I don’t know what the hell it is.”
Donald Trump’s timing seemed suspect, regardless of whether you consider it to be an obsession or a projection. It was obvious that Trump was not pleased with Kamala’s high level of media exposure. Harris should be commended for avoiding juvenile epithets.
After leaving her position, she spoke out against Trump in May, delivering a scathing critique with sincere eloquence. She maintained that his government had failed to uphold American ideals and contrasted her methodical approach with his disorganized manner.

On August 1, 2025, defend Kamala Harris (@DisavowTrump20).
But considering Trump’s past, it’s difficult to accept his compliments without question because they usually seem to have conditions attached. Harris’s offer to concede the 2024 race was a glaring example. This was a gracious moment on her part, as Chris Whipple explains in Uncharted. But all of a sudden, Trump began complementing her husband Doug and called her a tough cookie.
Even one employee thought the unexpected flattery was strange and unsuitable.
In this case, the flattery seemed more like an attempt to stroke his ego than a gesture of kindness. Donald Trump lapped up the concession that Kamala Harris delivered him like a poolside day in the sun.
Now contrast that with Trump’s actions upon his defeat in the 2020 election. No respectful capitulation, no phone call to congratulate the victor. Instead, what took place? Bedlam, denial, and the Capitol Hill riots on January 6, 2021. He didn’t even acknowledge that Joe Biden had won until the day after the Republican revolt, and four years later, he told NBC that he still wasn’t prepared to accept the outcome!
The View, Joy Reid, Kamala, and all other lefty maniacs had to be broken by this 19-second clip.
With a smile and a handshake, Joe Biden welcomes Trump back as president-elect.

It seems more like a performance because of his unexpectedly positive demeanor during Kamala Harris’ concession address. In some way, Harris’s concession was turned into this strange little boost to his ego by the same man who wouldn’t accept defeat unless he had technically won.
As a result, Donald Trump’s desire to intervene felt extremely personal when Kamala Harris made the news this week.
