The Eagles will now focus on Knoxville after the weather had other ideas and rained out both of the Pella Christian summer sports squads’ scheduled games at Norwalk on Wednesday night.
The Eagles baseball team will put up a fight against the Panthers tonight when they travel to Dyersville to play at the Field of Dreams Movie Site. Just across the cornfield from the location of the famous 1989 Kevin Costner film, Pella Christian and Knoxville will play on a Major League Baseball field that played host to two MLB games in 2021 and 2022. After splitting the doubleheader, the Eagles baseball team is hoping to build on the momentum from Monday’s second game versus Newton. Earlier this week, Pella Christian lost to the Cardinals 6-5 in their opening game, but they recovered to win the nightcap 16-1. The Panthers have won their previous three games, including a 12–6 victory against Newton on Tuesday, and come into the contest in Dyersville with a 10–6 overall record.
The Eagles softball team, which earned their first doubleheader sweep since 2023 earlier this week, will attempt to win on Panther Drive for the fourth time in their last five games. After winning both ends of the twinbill on Eagle Lane 8-1 and 6-5 on Monday, Pella Christian defeated Newton in the season series. After defeating Eddyville Blakesburg-Fremont last Friday to earn their first victory of the season, the Knoxville softball team is hoping to snap a two-game losing trend.
At 4:45 p.m. tonight, 92.1 KRLS will broadcast live coverage of the Pella Christian vs. Knoxville baseball game at the Field of Dreams. 95.3 KNIA will provide live coverage of the Eagles softball game in Knoxville, starting at 6:45 p.m. with pregame coverage.
