Eastern Iowans in MLB and minor league baseball

The following is a list of Eastern Iowa and University of Iowa baseball players participating in the big leagues and their affiliated minor leagues in 2025. Every statistic is valid through Thursday.

Five Iowans signed either as free agents after the 2025 Major League Baseball Draft or after being selected in last month’s draft. They haven’t been allocated to a team yet, and they probably won’t be until the next season.

After being selected in the second round, pitcher Cade Obermueller agreed to a deal with the Philadelphia Phillies, which included a $1,197,500 signing bonus.

Daniel Wright was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the tenth round and agreed to a contract with a $7,500 significantly below-slot bonus. After being chosen in the 13th round, Aaron Savary agreed to a $150,000 contract with the Cleveland Guardians.

Additionally, Anthony Watts signed a $150,000 contract with the St. Louis Cardinals in the 14th round. Daniel Rogers, a catcher, signed an NDFA contract with the San Francisco Giants.

Owen Puk, a graduate of Marion High School, was selected by the Washington Nationals in the 18th round out of Florida International University and was also awarded a $150,000 contract.

Keaton Anthony (Iowa/Philadelphia Phillies) is a first baseman who has emerged as a prospect this season. He was on the injured list for a little over a week in late June. Hitting.323 with 10 doubles, two home runs, and ten RBIs in 30 games for the Triple-A Lehigh Valley (International League). www.mlbpipeline.com recently ranked the Phillies as their 14th best prospect.

High-A Winston-Salem (South Atlantic League) pitcher Jake Bockenstedt (Cedar Rapids Washington/Chicago White Sox) has made 18 appearances, 17 of which have been starts. has a 4.95 earned run average and a 5–6 record. 77 hits compared to 83 2/3 innings pitched.

The right-handed pitcher Brody Brecht (Iowa/Colorado Rockies) was out of action for over two months while he was with low-A Fresno (California League). He made four brief starts with Fresno after recovering from four brief stints in rookie league, giving up four earned runs in 13 innings. struck out 20 and walked just one during that time.

Pitcher Duncan Davitt (Indianola/Iowa/Chicago White Sox) was traded from Tampa Bay to the White Sox at the deadline. Prior to his trade, he made four Triple-A starts for Durham (International League), going 0-2 with a 6.30 ERA, and spent the majority of the season in the Double-A starting rotation.

Jack Dreyer, a lefty reliever for the Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Los Angeles Dodgers, pitched to a 1.54 ERA in 10 games in July. has made 42 appearances this season, going 2-2 with a save and 2.87 ERA.

Calvin Harris (Western Dubuque/Chicago White Sox) Catcher has now played 31 games for Double-A Birmingham (Southern League) after playing 31 games in high-A this season. He is hitting.217 with 10 RBIs and a home run.

Pitcher for high-A Lansing (Midwest League) Grant Judkins (Pella/Iowa/Oakland Athletics) leads the league in innings pitched (102 2/3). has a 4.30 ERA and a 6-7 record.

Mitch Keller (Pittsburgh Pirates/Cedar Rapids Xavier) made it through Thursday’s MLB trade deadline unscathed. What has been the season like? has made 22 starts with Pittsburgh with a career-best ERA of 3.69. In 127 innings, only 120 hits were allowed. His team’s 4-10 record indicates that they are not providing enough offensive run support.

Southpaw pitcher Tate Kuehner (Marshalltown/Milwaukee Brewers) is still employed by Double-A Biloxi in the Southern League. has a 7-5 record, 20 starts, and a 2.61 ERA. has 108 strikeouts while giving up 78 hits in 96 2/3 innings.

Austin Krob (San Diego Padres/Lisbon)Since early July, Southpaw has been on Triple-A El Paso’s (Pacific Coast League) development list. has made 20 appearances, six of which as a starter, and is 0-1 with a 5.74 ERA.

With an ERA of 2.84 in June and 3.58 in July, righty pitcher Ty Langenberg (Urbandale/Iowa/Minnesota Twins) has improved his season over the last two months for high-A Cedar Rapids (Midwest League). has made 17 appearances altogether, including 16 starts, with a 3–4 record and a 5.09 ERA.

The right-handed pitcher Adam Mazur (Iowa/Miami Marlins) has made 18 appearances for Triple-A Jacksonville (International League), 15 of which have been starts. has a 4.13 ERA and is 6-5.

Mason McCoy, an infielder with the San Diego Padres from Iowa, has gone five at-bats without hitting this season. He has spent the most portion of his season at the Pacific Coast League’s Triple-A El Paso, where he has a.795 OPS and a.275 batting average over 67 games.

Catcher Ian Moller (Dubuque Wahlert/Texas Rangers).215 with seven doubles, four home runs, and 19 RBIs in 55 games for Double-A Frisco (Texas League).

Marcus Morgan (Iowa City West/Iowa/Philadelphia Phillies) remains on the low-A Clearwater team’s 60-day disabled list. made eight appearances, four of which were starts, and finished 1-1 with a 10.13 ERA. had spent 13 1/3 innings walking 24.

Before spending the rest of the season on the disabled list, A.J. Puk (Cedar Rapids, Washington/Arizona Diamondbacks) made eight relief appearances for Arizona, recording four saves and a 3.38 ERA. had a brace placed in his left elbow during surgery.

Sam Petersen (Nationals of Iowa/Washington)Injury has been a keyword, unfortunately, this season for the outfielder. Is at high-A Fredericksburg (South Atlantic League) and has a .301 batting average in 40 games. has 15 stolen bases, 20 RBIs, and five home runs.

Colin Rea (Cascade/Northern Iowa/Chicago Cubs)Righty pitcher is 8-5 with a save and 4.25 ERA in 22 games, 18 starts for the Cubs. Has allowed nine earned runs in nine innings over his last two starts.

Connor Schultz (Cedar Falls/Iowa/Chicago Cubs)One-third of his 21 outings for high-Class A South Bend have been starts. Has a 1-4 record and 4.55 ERA. Has 54 strikeouts in 55 1/3 innings.

Jared Simpson (Clinton/Iowa/Washington Nationals)Reliever is teammates with former Hawkeyes teammate Sam Petersen at Wilmington. Has a 1-5 record and 5.79 ERA in 31 outings. Has allowed only 30 hits in 42 innings, with 50 strikeouts, but has walked 39.

Raider Tello (Iowa/Philadelphia Phillies)Infielder has played in 73 games this season for low-A Clearwater (Florida State League). Hitting .268 with six homers and 35 RBIs. as five homers and 25 RBIs. Did have a three-hit and two-hit games this week.

Connor Van Scoyoc (Cedar Rapids Jefferson/Colorado Rockies)Reliever ended July with a 2.41 ERA for Triple-A Albuquerque (Pacific Coast League), and that was with allowing five earned runs in his last two outings. Is 5-4 overall with a 4.37 ERA.

Trenton Wallace (Davenport Assumption/Iowa/Toronto Blue Jays)Pitcher has made 18 appearances, eight starts, for Triple-A Buffalo (International League). Has an 0-1 record and 3.83 ERA. Has 55 strikeouts in 44 2/3 innings and has given up just 35 hits, but has walked 30.

Peyton Williams (Johnston/Iowa/Toronto Blue Jays)First baseman is on the development list for Double-A New Hampshire (Eastern League). Hitting.213 in 80 games with nine homers and 35 RBIs.

Keaton Winn (Pekin/Iowa Western Community College/San Francisco Giants)A long IL stint has bamboozled the right-handed pitcher s season. Back active now for Triple-A Sacramento (Pacific Coast League), where he is 1-1 with a 7.11 ERA in 11 outings, four starts.

Jack Young (Iowa/Chicago White Sox)Pitcher got a promotion to high-A Winston-Salem (South Atlantic League) after dominating at low-A Kannapolis. Is 1-1 with a 5.17 ERA in eight appearances, one start, for W-S.
