The Indianola softball team defeated Oskaloosa 11-3, while the Indianola baseball team split a doubleheader with Urbandale at home on Tuesday, winning 9-3 in the first game and losing 5-2 in the second.
Baseball’s first game included another outstanding performance from George Blake, who went six innings and struck out five to win. Asher Brueck also drove in two runs and went 2-4 at the plate. As the Indians offense failed to produce runs in a 5-2 loss, Urbandale took an early lead and ultimately ended up finishing out the game. The Indians, who are currently 25-5, will play Carlisle in a doubleheader at Simpson College tomorrow.
In the softball game, Osky gained the lead early on because the Indianola offense started out slowly but soon picked up speed. Dana Blake’s home run gave the Indians the lead, followed by another Blake home run in the fifth and another over the fence from Alexa Guyer in the sixth. Indianola scored seven runs in the last two innings to secure the victory. With their current record of 18–12, Indianola will compete in the DCG Invitational tomorrow.
