Indianola Baseball Sweeps Norwalk in Doubleheader to Win Share of LHC Title

In a Little Hawkeye Conference doubleheader on Wednesday at Simpson College, the Indianola baseball team defeated Norwalk 5-1 and 6-1. Both games were broadcast live on 94.3 KNIA.

Both teams’ games were dominated by pitching and defense, but Indianola was able to take a 3-0 lead in game one thanks to an RBI single by Dallas Harlan and two unearned runs scored after a Norwalk error. The Indians added two more runs in the sixth and seventh innings to win, and George Blake was almost perfect on the mound, stopping any Norwalk run before it began. The run for Norwalk was driven by Konnor Holtorf.

Before the Warriors eventually managed two hits and a run in the second game, Asher Brueck held a no-hitter into the seventh inning. Before the seventh, when Brueck, Max Wedmore, and Dax Heimbaugh added three insurance runs, Indianola had already scored off of RBI hits from Bo Blake and Bryant Ritchie. The only Warriors run was driven in by Eli Benschoter.

Following the victory, Brueck stated that they have been playing well together and are a confident team. He said they must maintain this level of confidence throughout the season and play with it in every game.

Dallas Harlan had three hits and four runs for Indianola, while Konnor Holtorf led Norwalk with three hits on the day.

Norwalk loses to Oskaloosa 11–11 and will wrap up their match today.

With the sweep, Indianola raises their record to 22-4 on the season and shares the Little Hawkeye Conference title, which they will win outright if they defeat Pella Christian tomorrow.
