The Indianola City Council meets in regular session Monday. The council will consider the appointment of two members to the Veteran’s Memorial Building Commission, and review tobacco sales violations from Indianola businesses.
The council will also discuss Vision 2030, the Community and Economic Development Director position, the City’s partnership with Service Line Warranties of America, and discuss an official position of the City of Indianola regarding lobbying at the state legislature. The positions being considered include:
• The City of Indianola supports local control as local decisions should be made by local elected officials.
• The City of Indianola supports financial stability as predictability and consistency in revenue streams are needed for operations, programs, infrastructure, public safety, and services.
• The City of Indianola supports economic development as maintaining flexible tools and recruiting, retaining, and expanding businesses are critical for economic vitality.
• The City of Indianola supports community partners as their programs, services, and projects are essential for community success
If approved, the council policy will allow the Mayor to be authorized and empowered to represent or express an official position on behalf of the City of Indianola so long as it aligns with and is supported by the aforementioned policy statements.
The council will also go into closed session to discuss possible litigation. The meeting begins at 6pm in the city council chambers at Indianola City Hall.
