Tonight at 5:30, the Class 5A 15th-ranked Indians will travel to the 4A 2nd-ranked Warriors for a conference doubleheader, continuing the Indianola-Norwalk softball rivalry. Live coverage of both games is available on kniakrls.com (KNIA3), with pregame coverage beginning at approximately 5:15.
Indianola comes into the dual bill with an 8-5 Little Hawkeye record and an overall record of 13-10. Norwalk trails Dallas Center-Grimes by one game in the league standings with an overall record of 22-3 and an LHC record of 11-2.
On June 9, Alexa Guyer’s walk-off two-run homer helped the Indians defeat the Warriors 8–7, overcoming deficits of 3-0, 4-1, and 7–5 in the seventh inning. It was the Warriors’ first loss of the season. The offensive exhibition saw 12 hits from each teams. Against Warrior standout pitcher Carly Brewer, who struck out nine in the loss, Indianola had six extra-base hits and Addie Fisher hit a home run for Norwalk. Indianola’s pitching responsibilities are divided between Ashley Schultz and Ava Tichy.
Both clubs got Tuesday night off after playing a game that was cut short due to rain on Monday.
