Jasper County Environmental Education Center Donor Wall Deadline Nears

On the east side of Newton, work is about to start on the donor wall that will be installed in the new Dana King Ceretti Environmental Education Center. It will list the names of people and companies who have contributed a substantial amount of money to the $2.9 million, 7,200-square-foot structure that will house the Jasper County Conservation Department’s headquarters and educational program classrooms. According to Naturalist Greg Oldsen of the Jasper County Conservation Department, a qualifying donation must be made by July 1st in order to be included on the donor wall. The wall will be a work of art, he adds.

We are working with a local artist who will assemble the donor wall for us. She will add a couple of wood slabs into the epoxy pour which will be used. Thus, it will be a work of art.

By the time the Environmental Education Center opens later this year, the donor wall should be finished, according to Oldsen. According to Oldsen, there are eight levels of donors. They range from $1,000 to $300,000 and beyond. Call the Jasper County Conservation Department at 641-792-9780 or send an email to [email protected] for additional information.
