Knoxville Baseball And Softball Take Losses In Bloomfield On Thursday

Thursday night in Bloomfield was a unique night for the Knoxville Summer Sports Squads. Prior to their scheduled game against the Mustangs, the baseball team concluded a suspended game against Davis County. In the first game, which was delayed in the eighth quarter with a five-point deficit, the Panthers quickly won their half of the eighth thanks to a mistake that was scored by Grant DeMoss, giving them a 6-5 victory. To secure the victory, Roston McCarty pitched a relief inning. Knoxville lost 2-0 in the second game despite getting five hits against Davis County’s three, failing to hit any of the five home runs and failing to capitalize on Mustangs’ mistakes. Davis County’s two-run third inning was the only run scored. Brady Roozeboom took the loss after five innings. Tonight at Chariton, Knoxville has a crucial doubleheader. In the meanwhile, Davis County defeated softball 4-2. The Panthers scored first, but they were unable to maintain their lead, giving the Mustangs three runs. In the seventh inning, Knoxville had runners in position to score, but Davis County crushed the Panthers’ hopes with a double play. Chris Peden, the coach, thinks his squad can still finish well in the conference.

Peden: We have an opportunity to battle our way back to the pack’s center. We haven’t been able to complete these games, which is absolutely awful. You wish you could have finished them that day. We begin our work after a crucial match against Clarke, in which we put ourselves in a vulnerable position the last time we played.

Tonight, the softball Panthers will go to Cardinal to pick up a game that has been suspended. As of the third inning, Knoxville is ahead six/two.
