The weather drove everyone away from what should have been a wonderful evening on Panther Drive. While softball was only in the fourth inning of its stopped game with Knoxville leading the Rockets 3-2, the Knoxville Baseball Squad only managed one game in its doubleheader against Eddyville, Blakesburg, and Fremont, winning 4-0. The game was called after five innings when the rain began. Roston McCarty dominated the Rockets in the one game he pitched, giving up just four hits, striking out three, and walking none. In the third inning, Knoxville took a 1-0 lead thanks to a solo blast to center field from Lincoln Norris. In the fifth, the Panthers would score three more runs. In addition to his skill at the plate, McCarty went 3/3 with an RBI to support his argument. Norris had an RBI and was 2/3 as well. As of right now, Knoxville is 8-3 and 13-7 in the South Central Conference. The continuation of the softball and baseball games will be announced later. Softball will host Chariton tonight, while Panther baseball will travel to Grinnell.
