Knoxville Diamond Squads Head To Albia On Monday

On Monday, the Knoxville Summer Sports Squads will travel to Albia to play in the South Central Conference. The daunting task for the softball team is to play class 3A number eight, unbeaten Albia. Earlier in the season, the Lady Dees defeated Knoxville 13-0. Chris Peden, the coach of the Panthers, tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that hitting has begun to improve and that he expects the offensive output from their most recent game against Cardinal will continue this week.

Peden: Some of us find it early aggression, while the other girls seem to be unconcerned by a score of 0–2, simplifying themselves for the remainder of the game.

The Panthers will travel to Gilbert on July 10th for the opening round of the class 4A Regional, thus Knoxville also learned its postseason route on Friday. The Monroe County Sports Complex is across the street. In order to stay ahead of Chariton in the South Central Conference, the baseball Panthers will play Albia in the season’s last game of the series. With four games remaining, Knoxville is within two games of the Chargers after splitting with Chariton on Friday. 95.3 KNIA will begin airing live coverage of the softball game at 6:45.
