The Panthers lost a game that took more than three days to finish for the second time this season on Friday, as the Knoxville Softball Squad defeated them 7-2. The game began on Wednesday afternoon and was finished on Friday night due to rain. On Wednesday, Marlea Cox’s two-run drive to centerfield gave Knoxville the lead, which helped them go out to a 6-2 lead. Ralei Danner was on first base when the game resumed Friday in the top of the third inning. He was driven home on a double by Hannah Dunkin, and pitcher Mia Durham and the defense took care of the rest, keeping the Cardinals scoreless for the final six innings. The baseball Panthers in Chariton, meantime, split the doubleheader, losing game one 8-7 to the Chargers and winning the nightcap 7-1. The Panthers made four mistakes in a back-and-forth early game, which the Chargers exploited even though Knoxville outhit Chariton 10–6. Grant DeMoss went 3/4 and drove in two runs in game two, while Luke Roozeboom, who was the designated hitter, also drove in two runs as the Panthers crushed the Chargers. With the Panthers playing error-free ball, Roston McCarty went the full distance, scattering five hits and striking out five. Until Monday, both Knoxvilles are off.
