For felony stalking, a guy from Knoxville has been taken into custody.
Kyle Keller, 42, is accused of two felonies: unlawful interception of communication (class D) and stalking by using a technological device (class C).
Court documents state that Keller reportedly installed an audio and video recording device in a Knoxville home’s main bedroom on October 27, 2024, without the female victim’s knowledge or consent. Keller is accused of using this gadget to monitor the victim’s whereabouts and listen in on her talks with other people. Keller then allegedly installed an audio recording device in the victim’s car on October 30th without her knowledge or approval. Keller tracked her activities and identified those chats using this gadget.
Keller is charged with repeatedly and again installing audio recording devices in the cars she drove over a period of several months. Without her knowledge, Keller allegedly listened to, observed, and tracked her activities using the recordings. Keller is charged with uploading the data from these devices to his computer, after which he allegedly reviewed conversations and movements. Keller used his cell phone to continuously record his observations in a Word document. According to the court filings, investigators from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation assert that Keller acted in this manner toward the victim in order to make them fearful for their safety. Keller is accused of attaching many recording devices to the underside of her car’s driver’s side seat between October 2024 and December 2024.
After 16 years of service, Kyle Keller left the Knoxville Police Department in January 2024, a few months before to the alleged charges. The amount of Keller’s bond is $15,000.
