On Monday, the Knoxville School Board will discuss calling an election.
In order to build a new elementary school in the Veterans District, $12.4 million in general obligation school bonds are being issued. In recent weeks, people of the community have been gathering signatures for a bond referendum that will be on the November 4th ballot. The petition needed 108 signatures from district residents who were eligible to vote, or 25% of the voters who cast ballots in the most recent school board election. Additionally, a resolution setting a hearing date for the proposed issuance of around $26 million in school infrastructure sale, service, and use tax revenue and refunding bonds will be considered by the board. The board will discuss a girls soccer fundraiser and replacing the high school gym’s sound system before adjourning the meeting.
The Knoxville School Board meeting is scheduled to begin at the district office on Monday at 5:30 p.m.
