Both Saturday’s games for the Melcher-Dallas Summer Sports Squads were difficult. At the Coal Miners Classic, the softball team finished fourth after losing to HLV 11-1 in the opening game. The Saints’ fate was sealed by HLV’s two five-run innings. The Saints were led by Gabby Overgaard, who went two for two. Seymour took the lead 5-2 in the second inning of game two. The Warriors scored three more runs in the sixth inning to win the game, but the Saints knotted it at five in the third. The Saints were led offensively by Kesley Reed, who was 2/3 with two RBI. The Saints lost to the MoHawks 16–6 on the Moravia baseball diamond after giving up a 12-run fourth inning. Melcher-Dallas received two hits apiece from Austin Remster and Evan Schrader.
