After starting in late May, Jake Meshke, the new Indianola municipal Manager, has been in his position for more than a month. During the first month, he spent his time getting to know the local government, community, and municipal employees. While important decisions have been taken during this first month, Meshke tells KNIA News that hearing what locals had to say was undoubtedly a top priority.
As we continue to interact and I continue to assimilate into the community, we will move into regular meetings with those people after holding all of those initial meetings with our staff and council members. I’ve now adopted that concentric ring strategy, beginning with the council and employees closest to me. I’ve also begun to work my way up to the point where I’m speaking with some of our most important community partners. Attending those first gatherings helps me get to know the community better and begin to view it more comprehensively.
