Newton Baseball Loses Non-Conference Game At Knoxville

On Monday, the Newton baseball team defeated Knoxville 12–6 on the road after building a six-run lead during the first three innings of their non-conference game. The Cardinals’ sole two runs were batted in by Kreytein Wickliffe and Cade Bauer, who went 2 for 4, while Gabe Otto went 2 for 3. Three Knoxville errors, two hit batters, four walks, and six hits were used to score Newton’s runs. The Panthers trailed the Cardinals 6-5 after scoring five runs in the bottom of the third inning. However, they rallied for the victory by scoring seven more runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings. With twelve hits, seven walks, and one hit batter, Knoxville had an offensive finish to the game.

Newton’s season record is currently 4-14, and they will play in the Little Hawkeye Conference again tonight in Pella. The KRLS3 Stream will broadcast the game live tonight, with pregame coverage starting at 6:45 p.m.
