After their house in Iberia was destroyed by fire, the woman’s husband was discovered dead inside. At first, investigators determined that the man’s death was caused by the house fire. However, the autopsy reports presented a very different picture.
Authorities began looking into the case with a suspected homicide in mind after the autopsy report. Prior to his death, a high level of antifreeze was discovered in the man’s body. The Miller County Sheriff’s Department and the State Fire Marshal’s Office both disclosed that the house fire that destroyed the residence was started with an accelerant.
According to an official affidavit that People was able to receive, the individual also had injuries that suggested he had passed away prior to the house fire. The fact that his wife, Amy Murray, had left the family home with her kid and two dogs before the house had even taken fire was also intriguing.
Amy, a nurse at the Jefferson City Correctional Center, was considered the main suspect in her husband’s murder. After more investigation, the police discovered that the woman was conversing with Eugene Claypool, a prisoner.
