PCM Baseball Defeats EBF Thursday, Softball Falls Short at Gilbert Despite Milestone Night for Steenhoek

In their separate non-conference games, the PCM softball team lost at Gilbert following a historic night for Addison Steenhoek, while the baseball team defeated Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont on the road Thursday night.

The Mustang baseball team defeated the Rockets 13–6. After pitching five innings, giving up one earned run and recording three strikeouts, Jensson Hood won the victory. Izaac Bagby went 2-3 with four RBI, one walk, and one hit by pitch, Coby DeRaad went 2-5 with two runs, and Jaden Houser went 3-4 with three RBI, one walk, and two runs. Overall, the PCM baseball team improves to 6-7.

The Tigers defeated the third-ranked Mustang softball team 4-1. Camden Webb pitched one inning, allowing four hits and two runs, after Rylee Parsons tossed five innings, allowing five hits and two runs. Lilian Humpal went 1-3 with a double and an RBI, and Libby Winters went 2-3 at the plate with a double and a run. Addison Steenhoek recorded her 50th career runner caught stealing and her 100th career hit while going 1-2 in the match. According to PCM coach Shaun Hudnut, his side had opportunities but was unable to take advantage of having five runners in scoring position with fewer than two outs. The PCM softball team’s overall record drops to 14-2.

Tonight marks the return to action for the PCM softball and baseball teams versus Grand View Christian.
