Pella Baseball Team Bounces Back in Grinnell, Softball Narrowly Falls to Ranked North Polk

The Dutch girls persevered but lost their clash with #7 in 4A North Polk in Alleman 3-1, while the #2 in Class 3A Pella baseball team defeated Grinnell 7-3 on the road Tuesday.

Hayes Lautenbach’s grand slam in the third inning and Lincoln Kocour’s two-run triple off the bench in the seventh inning for insurance were two of Pella’s baseball team’s major hits. Isaiah Kettler finished the game with three innings and another run allowed, while Nathan Carey managed seven baserunners and gave up just one earned run in four innings. The Dutch won their 20th game of the season and will play again on Thursday against ADM at home. Pella Dutch Live and 92.1 KRLS will broadcast the game live.

Despite their best efforts, the Dutch softball team lost to the #7 Comets. Emma Eekhoff hit their lone run and hit with her tenth home run of the summer, and she fought to keep the defense to three runs while containing the North Polk lineup. Pella is off until Monday due to a road trip to Perry after dropping to 17–12.
