Pella Christian Summer Sports Squads Kick Off Final Week of the Regular Season Tonight

Published On:

Tonight marks the start of the last week of regular season play for the Pella Christian summer sports teams. The softball team will host North Mahaska, while the baseball team will host Grand View Christian.

Before its first-round district game on Saturday, the Eagles baseball team, which is trying to improve to 3-2 in their previous five games, will get an early peek at the Thunder. Grand View Christian, who defeated Perry on Monday night to improve to 3-2 in their past five games, comes into tonight’s matchup with an overall record of 13-10. Grand View Christian defeated Pella Christian 11-0 in a Saturday game at Waterloo Riverfront Stadium last season, marking the Thunder’s only previous encounter on the baseball diamond.

The Eagles are trying to bounce back after losing four of their last five games on the softball diamond. In an attempt to recover, Pella Christian will try to defeat a North Mahaska team that has a 4-1 record in their last five games and an overall record of 18-3. The Eagles vs. Warhawks game tonight marks the sixth meeting between the two teams since the Bound era began in 2013. With North Mahaska winning the most recent full game 16-7 in 2018, the series is tied at 2-2 overall. The Eagles led 8–4 after the third inning of the fifth match last year, but lightning struck the area and ended the game, which was not made up.

The baseball game is set to start at 7 p.m., while the softball game may be heard live on 92.1 KRLS at 6:45 p.m. tonight.
