The first reading of a proposed policy change that would virtually forbid students from using personal electronic devices in class was adopted by the Pella School Board. The action was taken in response to House File 782, which was approved by Governor Kim Reynolds and mandates that all Iowa public and private school districts ban cell phones and other electronic devices during class time, according to Superintendent Greg Ebeling. According to him, the Pella Community School District will take things a step further and mandate that all kids lock up their belongings from the first to the last bell of the school day.
Cell phones, tablets, video gaming consoles, non-school computers, portable media players, and message-transmitting watches are among the gadgets. Devices provided by the school are the only ones that can be used during the school day. When students leave campus for lunch, they are allowed to bring their electronics with them, but they must put them back in their locker when they get back.
According to Ebeling, if necessary, parents or guardians can get in touch with students via the activities office or main office.Go here to read the entire policy.
