With a pair of victories in the Marshalltown Tournament on Saturday, the Pella softball team may be gaining momentum just in time. At the Bobcat Classic, the Dutch defeated BCLUW 13-0 and Grundy Center 3-0.
The Dutch attack exploded for 12 hits, five of which were doubles, against the Comets. Avery Parks went 2-for-3 with two runs, Lucy Carlson was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI, and Katie Scheckel was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and three drove in.
Emma Eekhoff of Pella stopped a hitting Spartans squad.358 as a team going into the game, giving up just three hits and striking out nine Grundy Center batters. In the game, Pella managed to score three runs off of just three hits.
The Dutch are now 17-10 overall after winning seven straight games. On Monday, Pella will play a make-up game on the road against DCG after falling behind 8-0 in the fourth inning.
