Before the week ends, Pella High School’s summer teams took advantage of a few days off from action. Tonight, they will play Oskaloosa at home.
In the three days off from competition, Pella’s #2 3A baseball team learnt its postseason path. They defeated Pella Christian 9-1 in a lightning-shortened game on Monday. The Dutch must prevail and hope Indianola loses to the Eagles tonight in order to have a chance at a conference title. The Indians are returning to town this evening after Pella whitewashed Oskaloosa, although without a hit in game one of that doubleheader.
Following victories over Pella Christian and Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont earlier this week, the Dutch softball team is now 14-10 overall. In addition, Pella will try to complete a season sweep of the Indians, something they haven’t done since 2009, according to Quikstats/Bound data. In their two games in Osky on June 11, the Dutch scored 26 runs in total, including four home runs from Emma Eekhoff and Katie Scheckel.
Prior to this evening’s varsity girls game, it is also senior night. Softball coverage starts at 7 p.m. on YouTube’s Pella Dutch Live and KRLS2 streams.
