Pleasantville Baseball and Softball Hosting Earlham Tonight on Cancer Crusher Night

Published On:

Tonight’s Cancer Crusher Night doubleheaders in the West Central Conference will pit Pleasantville’s baseball and softball teams against Albia.

The weather forced the cancellation of the Trojan softball and baseball teams’ games against Woodward-Granger on Thursday night. The baseball team defeated EBF 16-1 to improve to 21-1 overall, while the softball team just defeated Des Moines Christian 5-4 to improve to 13-7 overall. With a 12-0 advantage in game one of the doubleheader, the baseball club will resume a suspended game against the Cardinals before starting a new game for the second game. Earlham’s season record is 8–13.

Additionally, the Trojan softball team will play a fresh second game after continuing their first game versus the Cardinals. Overall, Earlham softball is 9–12. Through the first pitch being thrown out by survivors or family members of each team, the strikeout commitment from each team, players honoring those close to them who have been affected by cancer, tattoos and concession specials, and a silent auction, tonight’s games help generate money for the fight against cancer. The American Cancer Society receives all proceeds. Softball will begin at 5:30 p.m., while baseball games will begin at 5:00 p.m. tonight.
