East Marshall defeated the Trojan softball team 3-0 in their opening Rose Festival Tournament match. Harper McGraw, Taylor Perkins, Ella Clark, and Kally Wysong all recorded hits during the game, giving the team a total of four. Alee Phillips, the coach, stated that although her squad played well and the game was good, they were unable to string hits together. According to Phillips, Lainey Kennedy pitched a strong game, giving up just a few base hits, but they were hit by runners who were in scoring position.

Marshalltown lost to the Trojans 9-0 in the second game. The Trojans managed to win the game in six innings thanks to Harper McGraw’s walk-off three-run home run and Kally Wysong’s victory on the mound. The Trojans got 13 hits overall against Marshalltown, led by three hits from Faith Nelson and two each from Ella Clark, Harper McGraw, and Kally Wysong. Phillips claimed that in game two, the squad had greater success at bat, the sticks came to life more, and her defense was strong. The Trojan softball team’s season record now stands at 11-7.

On Monday, the Trojan softball and baseball teams will play two games versus Earlham to resume play.
