On Wednesday, Pleasantville’s softball and baseball teams both won non-conference away games. The baseball squad defeated Chariton, while the softball team defeated North Mahaska.
Following a hit by Harper McGraw and a hit by pitch by Clara Metcalf in the sixth inning, the Trojan softball team managed to push two runs across and defeat the Warhawks 5–4. After then, Pleasantville managed to grab the lead with three runs in the top of the seventh and hold off North Mahaska in the bottom of the seventh to end the contest. After Taylor Perkins was purposefully walked, McGraw hit a single to score McGraw and end the game, while Ella Clark was walked and McGraw hit a double to score Clark. The Trojans would then secure the victory as Metcalf got a base hit to put them ahead 5–4.
The Trojans scored nine hits overall thanks to three hits from McGraw and two each from Mason and Clark during the game. The Pleasantville softball team will play Exira-EHK-Audubon in a Class 2A Regional game on Wednesday after finishing the regular season with an overall record of 18-8.
