Taylor Swift didn’t hold back while discussing her first date with Travis Kelce, which took place in the summer of 2023, just after the Chiefs tight end attended an Eras Tour show in Kansas City.
During her riveting interview on the New Heights podcast on Wednesday, Swift recalled having no knowledge of football. Additionally, she posed the most absurd question to Kelce of playing against his brother, former Eagles center Jason Kelce, who retired in March 2024, in the Super Bowl.
When we first spoke, I was positive he wasn’t crazy. The 35-year-old Swift compared him to a human exclamation point. I use exclamation points a lot more now. You also don’t judge me for not understanding the world in which you live.
He peered across the line of scrimmage and saw his brother standing five feet away from him when I asked him, quite rightly, what it was like to watch the Chiefs play the Eagles in the Super Bowl on our first date, according to the New York Post.
Travis was unable to articulate his ideas because the brothers played offensive positions and wouldn’t be on the field at the same time. He didn’t even look at me. Swift laughed.
Now I see what a foolish question it was. I thought they were all out there at the same time. What a first down meant was unknown to me. It was a tight end. I fell in love with it and became obsessed with it.

Swift and Kelce made their romance public when they were spotted holding hands in New York City in October 2023. In a December interview with Time magazine, Swift said that she was with a partner on September 24 when she attended the Bears game at Arrowhead Stadium and that we entered directly through the general admission doors.
“I love this new world that Travis has shown me,” Swift said. These players are under a lot of pressure, but they also experience a lot of joy and exhilaration. Because the demands of sports are so distinct, I have a lot of respect for each member of his squad.
Kelce often claimed to be the luckiest man alive on the show. Swift responded to Kelce’s statement by joking, “Because there was never a camera on it,” saying, “I’ve been so lucky because I never got to see what the suite was when I played.”
I’ve been writing songs about wanting this to happen to me since I was a teenager, if this guy isn’t nuts.

Swift said, “I grew up in [Pennsylvania], and I always used to hear my dad yelling at the screen while watching Eagles games,” in reference to her relationship with sports before Kelce. I would go to sporting games to play the national anthem. Everything served as a means to an end in order to persuade me to perform music.
But I became so obsessed with sports because of [Travis]. I am competitive in my role as his representative.Swift claimed earlier in the show that I obtained a boyfriend because Travis chose to use the New Heights podcast as his own dating app two years ago.
