The Pleasantville softball and baseball teams won doubleheaders in the West Central Conference on the road at ACGC on Thursday night.
In the first game, the Chargers were routed 13-3 in five innings by the #2-ranked Trojan baseball team, and in the second game, they were defeated 12-1 in five innings. Luke Vestal grabbed the victory in the first game by pitching all five innings with just one earned run on four hits. In the first game, Logan Roff, Braylon Bingham, and JJ Phillips each had two hits. Caylor Jones was the victorious pitcher in game two, recording five strikeouts while allowing one earned run on five hits over the course of five innings. Braylon Bingham, Luke Vestal, Easton Cox, Brayden Kennedy, and Logan Roff each had two hits in game two. On Saturday, the Pleasantville baseball team will restart a suspended game against Des Moines Christian, improving their season record to 19-0.
The Trojan softball team defeated the Chargers 8-0 in the first game and 10-4 in the second. The Trojans recorded 10 hits overall in game one, with two hits each from Emily Roe, Harper McGraw, Lainey Kennedy, and Kally Wysong. Kennedy recorded seven strikeouts in the circle to get the victory. In game two, eight Trojans recorded hits for a team total of 11, with Wysong, Taylor Perkins, and Kyleigh McConnell each recording two hits. Wysong pitched the final two innings to end the game after Kennedy had pitched the first five. After improving to 10-6 overall, the Trojan softball team will play in the West Marshall Rose Festival Tournament on Saturday.
