Then there are Donald Trump and his ludicrous remarks. The world holds its breath as the man opens his mouth, expecting the absurd barrage of contradictions, lies, and wild fantasies that we have come to identify with the President of the United States.
Trump is a language inventor, despite his detractors’ frequent accusations that he is a liar. He has developed a unique style of speech that has its own cadence, rhythm, and actuality.
It is neither here nor there that Donald Trump’s reality tends to have any similarities to the one that everyone else is accustomed to. Shakespeare turns slowly in his grave and murmurs mournfully, “Not again!” as the world listens, the media goes into a frenzy, and social media suffers a breakdown.
Trump has mastered the art of destroying the English language beyond all sense and syllable. He also uses it to make such grandiose, egotistical, and outrageous claims that the only rational defense for those whose minds are ill-equipped to handle the megalomaniac’s steel-trap mentality is to believe them to be true.
Frequently, they aren’t. Let’s examine Trump’s most recent shock bomb in detail and look for the facts, though, and give him the benefit of the doubt!
Trump reportedly said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was a war hero because we collaborated during his Tuesday appearance on conservative presenter Mark Levin’s radio show, according to Politico.
Given that Netanyahu has been the target of an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court since last November for alleged war crimes in Gaza, Trump’s statement would have been controversial enough if he had stopped there. Trump, however, noted that he is a military hero and a strong supporter of going where angels are afraid to go. I suppose I am as well.
It’s a brave statement for anyone to make, but for someone who is always under intense public scrutiny, it seems as though the man has an extraordinary sense of what would make him newsworthy.
Trump, who has never served in the military or engaged in combat, hedged his major claim by saying, “Nobody cares.” However, I am also a war hero. I sent those planes, after all.
Those jets are believed to be related to the June order he issued to assist eliminate Tehran’s nuclear program, which included an attack on Iran’s underground nuclear facilities.
It appears that Trump was unaware that he wasn’t actually flying in the jets, much like a stealth bomber. Trump’s fantasies are supersonic, though, with his finger on the button and his head in the clouds.
Let’s go back in time to 2015 for the jury’s sake, when Trump said that despite having served five years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam, Arizona Republican Senator John McCain was not a military hero. For what reason did Trump deny his fellow statesman his chance to shine? Is it possible that Trump’s five deferments from the Vietnam War draft sparked jealousy?
Don’t be on your Nelly! McCain wasn’t a military hero in Trump’s eyes because he liked those who weren’t captured.
There you have it!
There’s rhyme and reason, and then there’s Trump.
