One week an all-stater, the next an all-tournament captain.

Three Williamsburg girls were selected to the Class 3A first team, as highlighted by junior pitcher Jersey Metz, who announced the Iowa Girls Coaches Association’s 2025 all-state softball teams late Monday night.

After leading the Raiders (36-7) to their third straight 3A state title, seniors Alley Gorsh and Makenna Hughes were also recognized.

Metz (21-5) had a 2.03 ERA and was a master of location and spin despite his low strikeout totals. In the 3A championship, she was the winning pitcher as the Raiders defeated No. 1 Dubuque Wahlert 3-2.

Together, Gorsh (.469) and Hughes (.432) drove in 73 and scored 100 runs.

Cedar Rapids Xavier (38-6) tied Williamsburg as the area leader in overall all-staters, with four players, including first-teamers Braylen Conlon and Katie Pilcher, playing on the top-ranked 4A team for a large portion of the season (finishing fifth at state).

Conlon (27-1) recorded 318 strikeouts (in 164 innings) and a 0.55 ERA while bound for the University of Iowa. Pilcher (.379) drove in 55 runs and hit 21 home runs, good for second place in the state.

Seven players from Metro/Iowa City have been named to the first team all-state, including those senior batterymates.

Emily Koranda, a senior pitcher for Linn-Mar who helped the Lions finish second in Class 5A, Morgan Hewitt of Cedar Rapids Jefferson, Lily Knutson of Cedar Rapids Kennedy, Riley Redig of Cedar Rapids Prairie, and Molly Carlson of Iowa City High all made the big-school first team.

Top-ranked Waukee Northwest was held to a single run in the 8-inning championship game loss in the 5A final by Koranda (20-3, 0.85). She is headed to Missouri State University after striking out 219 batters during the season.

Kyla Schulte of Clear Creek Amana and Melanie Runde of Western Dubuque join Conlon and Pilcher on the 4A first team.

The three Williamsburg players are one of nine players from the area to make the 3A first team. Mya Hillers of Center Point-Urbana, Hayden Gookin of Mount Vernon, Ana Glawe of Benton Community, Ella Greiner and Leighton Salazer of Washington, and Pearson Hall of West Liberty are with them.

The 1A first team consists of Rachel Eglseder of Edgewood-Colesburg, Kamryn Fink of Highland, Addison Winters of Lansing Kee, Kenzie Bridgewater of North Linn, and Josephine Moore of Sigourney, while the 2A first team consists of Addison Frake of Cascade, Sarah Mead of Jesup, and Addie Clark of Lisbon.

The 4A and 3A state coaches of the year are Nikki Gahring of Xavier and Adam Berte of Williamsburg, respectively.
