After being hired for a job by a father who wasn’t the child’s legal guardian, a Texas lady attempted to abduct two children and smuggle them into Mexico. The plot failed when Illinois police intervened at Chicago’s Midway International Airport to prevent the kids from being transported by air.
According to the Aurora Police Department, Cindy Sanchez, 47, of Fort Worth, was arrested last week and charged with two counts of child abduction, unlawful restraint, and kidnapping by deception or seduction. She is accused of plotting to place the two in the custody of the father of the children, who allegedly supplied the money for the attempted kidnapping, outside of the United States.
The commotion began Thursday afternoon in the Aurora, Illinois, neighborhood, about 40 miles west of Chicago.
According to Law and Crime, a family on Rosewood Avenue alerted the police at around 3:30 p.m. because they believed something was wrong: two children, ages 11 and 13, had abruptly disappeared with an unnamed woman.
Officers discovered that Sanchez had arrived at the residence claiming to be there on behalf of the mother to transport the children to her out-of-state home. The mother immediately told the police that she had not given her OK. Alarms were thus sounded.
With the assistance of the Chicago Police Department, investigators hurried to track out Sanchez’s whereabouts.
